The Forest Heart
An older painting, back on the easel..Work-in-progress
*
I dedicate this painting to my older brother,
who has always looked out for me
even in the dream world, he always shows up
when I am in need of help , lost or afraid
there he is......Like a Guide leading me to safety
My brother is super- kind, a generous spirit,
funny and awesome..an amazing artist too!
And as an "Older Brother" he is protective and powerful to me!
All the beloved men in my life seem to appear to me
.. as Tree Spirits
and often come through my paintings in this way!
*
Although this doesn't look like my brother, the gentle spirit he carries does..
*
I am the red bird,
The cardinal tucked safely in the tree..
there is a bluejay feather beside me
A symbol of Spirit
and a symbol of the Guide my brother is to me
in the dreamworld and the waking world
*
The red heart..
where my heart always remains
I seem to belong in the Forest
it is where I feel Home is.
* This painting is also a Nature Meditation..
I will share another time
Alot of my paintings are like
Symbolic Journeys you can travel into
*
His face is adorned in twigs, feathers
and leaves of All colors..
he offers them to whoever he meets.
they each carry a gift
and a message for you to recieve
*
MEDITATION JOURNEY
Feel free to grab a feather or leaf...
The Forest-heart knows you and what is in your heart
and will share with you whatever is most divine
In Canada, we have stunning maple trees..with magnificent gorgeous colors
*
In this painting I also made sure to get the fall leaves, the colors
that both my nephew and neice told me they love
Reds and oranges and when orange is "just about" to turn!
So that is for them!
The leaves and acorns still need to be finished
I look forward to this piece being done!
WIP
Hope you enjoyed the Forest heart
He is painted in Acylics on a large canvas
*
On the easel
Another Work in Progress
I met a new soul
he calls himself
The Rabbit Lord
what is a r-l?
I hope to find out!
he seems like a character in a new story I may write!
A Giant acorn and oak leaves.
....and a Blood Red Moon
Also a King Hare..or Prince Hare
he seems to go well with
this old carved antique chair
Hope you enjoyed the R-L
he is done in watercolors mostly and acrylics
Hope to finish him soon!

Thankyou always for visiting
and adding your magic here

I love your vision of masculinity as powerful but protective, not aggressive or warlike, but peaceful and nurturing. I really resonate to these two paintings and the one in your last post as well.
More absolutely awesome paintings ~ Filled with 'the spirit' ~ Love them! ~ Incidentally, saw the cardinal on my morning walk ~ thanks, namaste, CArol (Share the Creative Journey) ~ happy PPF ^_^
AMAZING ! what a treat to look through your art. I love the birds and feather looks..I also did some art with feathered friends. we must be "nature soul-mates". we both love the forest and its creatures. my heart lies there too

Your paintings are gorgeous. I love the cardinal (my mom always thinks of my Dad when she sees a cardinal...before he passed, he always said if he could come back he would come back as a bird. After he died cardinals started coming into my mom's life in strange and odd ways so now she's convinced whenever she sees one, it's him!)
wonderful tribute to your brother, you're lucky to have his protection! Your story is full of lovely symbolism!
Hi Kiki. Wow, your work always gets me. So powerful. Just beautifully done. Love it!
I can never decide which is more fascinating, your beautiful paintings, or the stories that accompany them.
more great faces, colors, wonderful ideas. The trees are turning here in the Pacific Northwest it is great, such a show outside.Your paintings do reflect this.
Your paintings are beautiful and they have a haunting quality to them....as if they come from another world.
Victoria, one of the best things about PPF is that I can look at the works of "real artists" like you (as opposed to would-be artists like me). I love the richness of the colors, the kind expressions on the faces of your images. So gorgeous.
Dear Kiki
Magic! This is the word that I found in my poor english to describe your works and your words
Truly magic...
I imagine the canadian forests during the Fall full of autumm colors and I feel envy as here we can´t enjoy it
You have lovely words to your brother
Love
Your paintings always remind me of walking through ancient woodland where you feel time stands still and creatures we are not used to seeing in this world watch us with hidden eyes!
I used to love this TV series -Robin of Sherwood which mixed in the earth spirits with the story. There are loads more clips on YouTube (Michael Praed makes rather good eye candy too!)

Michael Praed.... oh my....look at him now!

Kiki, what a beautiful tribute to your brother. You obviously have a strong connection, and your painting is so beautiful and soulful. I have to tell you, your Rabbit Lord has mesmerised me - there is magic about him for sure. Thankyou always for your words over at my blog...yes, there is definitely big shifts happening at the moment. Nice to know I am not experiencing them alone x
Breathtaking, thanks so much for sharing your talent. Much love Jenny xx
Your paintings are just so beautiful and atmospheric and I love the surface of the work... I would love to see some closeups so we can see your brush work. Love the post happy PPF
Oh Victoria!!! These are BOTH such amazing and beautiful paintings. Forest Heart does have such a gentleness to it...what a beautiful ode to your beloved brother! And Rabbit Lord - what a gentle man! I LOVE the acorn upon his head and the beautiful rabbit he so lovingly holds. Thank you for sharing this MAGIC today!!!! They truly made my heart sing! xoxo
Very special Victoria! Very special! I feel very connected to both paintings!
Oh he's so beautiful! Love his caring and thoughtful eyes!
Two more gorgeous and mesmerizing paintings! Wonderful - Love the Forest Lords colors - perfect for today.
Both your "Forest Heart " and "Rabbit Lord" are fantastical, magical visions of love and kindness!!! You amaze me every time, dear Kiki!!!Your description of your brother and "Forest Heart" brought the usual lump in my throat that tells me when I hear TRUTH! It's kind of surreal this week I keep running into posts about trees and our connection to the woodland nature spirits. I even found a childrens book at a rummage sale entitled, " The People Who Hugged the Trees"!Happy PPF! Deb
Gorgeous paintings as always. Love the red bird.
"Symbolic Journeys you can travel into" -- one of the aspects of your artwork I treasure. They are magical in that they are not static; but portals with guides and symbols that give to viewer (as you say) journeys. You are a magician.
Your Forest Heart appears to be a trustworthy guide . . . I'm thinking about the relationships between trees and birds now . . . they nourish them, shelter, provide nesting, warmth, they are markers along their journeys . . . I'll wonder back to these thought in a little bit.
Oh! Rabbit Lord looks so interesting (I mean he's beautifully painted, but that expression is interesting, a bit enigmatic); and his rabbit friend/spirit looks very serious and wise. I love the acorn crown . . .
I get so excited when I see you have a new (or old) friend to share with us!
Thankyou Everyone for all your Beautiful, Thgoutful comments and sharings! you are fantastic and your visits are super appreciated!

Hi Victoria...so happy to have finally reminded myself to stop here first this evening, before I get overwhelmed.
I am in awe of how well you can capture a loving male spirit. I have to say this has always been a challenge for me and continues to be. I am working on one now for the last 2 weeks...the way you make the gentile without losing any masculinity is astounding. You must have known men like that.
Every male I paint, everyone thinks is my son. Indeed, he is the only man I know who is both. But I can see him struggling now at 21...trying to be more of a 'manly' man. I know it's just a phase...he is young. Sorry for the rambling on...must be the wine talking :D
No...it's just that your paintings stir up feelings...and my admiration. Love, Lisa
Beautiful Forest Heart - Heart of the Forest - like the Greenman. The Rabbit Lord looks wise yet somewhat mischievous. Nature is calling to you this fall for sure.
Oh I am in LOVE with both of these but the Rabbit Lord especially SINGS for me- something about his eyes and that moon and of course the rabbit....I can't wait until we get to hear his story.....
Victoria come to say goodbye, I'll be traveling for a while.
The works show are great, you're lucky to have an older brother (I am the older sister lol), it shows much love you put into this first picture, I think the rabbit is important to you.
See you soon
The exposed heart is beautiful and the kindness definitely comes through! - It is a wonderful tribute to your brother :)
xo
Kristin
Wow, Victoria! This is amazing! His gaze is so peaceful and full of compassion, but what strikes me most is his heart...that area really pulls me in. It looks almost cosmic yet is so full of earthy nurturing energy--like a very safe kind of protective love! I love how his leafy hair came out, and those maple leafs are stunning! And, did you get a new chair? Super fabulous! We have such similar tastes and styles. Great antique, and wonderful rabbit lord! You are truly gifted :)
Oh my gosh. I don't even have words for how much I love both of these!
They are truly beautiful. I love the exposed heart and all the thoughtful imagery you have included.
Each of your characters have such a gentle and loving spirit to them. How lovely that your brother looks out for you. I can see the love shining through your painting, beautiful work Victoria.
Jess xx
Your paintings are always powerful and beautiful. Happy PPF!
Hi Victoria. I love both of these paintings so much! They both speak to me and give me comfort. Thank you for such a special gift that you have! Hugs to you, my friend!
Wow Victoria, such beautifully magical paintings. They have such emotion in their eyes. Lovely.
Dear Victoria, such a wonderful ode to your brother, no words needed here, your painting says it all!!
About the drawing challenge; it was Ariane http://arianereichardt.blogspot.com/
who started these drawing challenges a while ago, meanwhile we are a small group participating each week. On turn we choose a theme, this week is my turn (for the 1st time)
If you feel like drawing (or an other form of creativity) along with us you are very welcome. xx
My dear girl, what is there NOT to love?! Magic and fantasy, an incredible mixture you create so well. Hugs!
I've been missing painting and joining in with PPF!
Your paintings are always so beautiful and I love the way you talk about them. Just wonderful and evocative and peace-giving. The addition of you as the red bird is just right and so full of joy.
Thank you for the comment on my blog.
Wow..wow..wow...just simply amazing!! They touch my soul...I was thinking, wow, Kiki should paint tarot cards, then I see on the right that you have life sized cards - amazing!! Oh, how I would love to see them in person. You are incredible...adore! Hugs, Sheila
