Another Passenger: The Blind Man

The Blind Man
A Gentle Soul

His gaze peaceful
a yellow canary upon his shoulder
guiding him on his way

As I painted him..
to my surprise
he was indeed

a Passenger...

I sense he is a blind man..
yet his beautiful soulful eyes draw me in..
as though he is staring right at me
*
In his arms
he holds Fresh Egglant..a Large decadent Sunflower
and a single bold Peach

Does he know Lady Sunflower perhaps?
Have they met?

A Work in Progress...
He travels on the train...a small bottle of beautiful red wine nearby..
I can hear the clanking of glassware, people chattering and the smell of fresh fruit. My sense of hearing feels heightened with all the details

I couldn't seem to finish Lady Sunflower
There was something missing
So I put her away...
*
Late one night...the scent of peaches calling me again
a glass of red wine..
I began to paint..
This man took form on the canvas.
*
At first I thought I was painting
yet another lady with a feathered hat
*
To my surprise..it was  a man's face appearing...
I was smitten and intrigued.

I then realized he was connected to the train
and a passenger as well!

They are still both
Works in Progress

I am excited to finish their stories
and maybe perhaps there will be even more
passengers one day..
a room full would be most magical..
a living train of paintings!

I have been obsessed with peaches lately..
I think you can tell..

an immortal spell has cast it's glow upon me..

Thankyou for meeting the beautiful blind man..

Happy Creating.
Thankyou for visiting!
*
What are you creating lately?
Has your work ever turned into a series?
or interconnected?
this one will be of many passengers in the future I am sure!
*
Have any new series ever spontaneously popped up for you?
or taken you by surprise?
This one did for me..

Hope to finish him very soon.
He is 18 by 24 inches and done in acrylics.
And there is splash of red wine in there too..

I just love coming here because I find we have a bit in common,, we paint from kind of same place,, I didn't put that right but,, my ideas for my painitngs begin with a glimpse of something and then story unfolds in my imagination,, my minds eye creates the picture and I just paint what i see in my minds eye,, I just transfer it from my head to the canvas,, sounds rather scary,, but it works for me, I so love your work and the stories that come with,

Oh my Kiki. I was in that train sitting next to that man watching him holding the egg plants and the peach. He just stared and at first I thought he was looking at me but he was lost in the feel of the train moving and the fuzz on the peach and engulfed by the scent of the woman next to him. Oh yes, I was there for that instance and I Just love your work. Thanks for taking me on a ride. Great work and look forward to the continuation. Happy Paint Friday. Have a wonderful weekend.

The beginnings of a story - how exciting! Lovely atmospheric paintings as ever.xx

Ah much magic brewing here - I feel they are definitely connected... by the scent of peaches and seeds of one sunflower scattered but destined to be together once again... What do you think?

A train! What better place to meet exotic people and who knows, develop romantic stories! With a happy ending I hope! Have a great week-end, lovely passenger Victoria. :)

Two fabulous characters with so much personality & soul. I love the way their story is connected. Their surprise connection fits in with my own tales of the unexpected post (thank you for your lovely comment)- another bit of synchronicity between us kindred spirits!

Hooray- a friend for Lady Sunflower! I love the stories that go with these folk and how perfectly their faces and demeanor fit your words- his eyes are so gentle and loving, and I love the curtain that guides our eyes to the passing scenery....just beautiful!

how amazing that your paintings literally create themselves as if you are channeling them and through your brush they emerge! I love your blind man and what a perfect companion to the sunflower lady :) Happy PPF Wonderful Kiki!

Wow I am so thrilled to be here Victoria. The blind man is so kind and serene, he truly tugs at my heart strings and he is definitely Lady Sunflower's partner, they are made for each other. Thank you for sharing your awesome art. Happy PPF and have a great weekend, Annette x

Gorgeous, Victoria! You paint very intuitively. They look like a matched set, yet I don't see them as lovers. I see them more as Anam Cara...soul friends. I think the women has a deep and tender affection for the blind man. She looks out for him. That's just my silly take on it :)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend painting away in your studio!

Lots of hugs and sparkles for you!

What a kind soul he is! And, he looks perfect with Lady Sunflower ;o) Several times when I paint, I will paint into a collection, a little story. I don't realize it, until I have finished the painting and then another pops into my head, to continue the story ;o) Have a wonderful day!

A fantastic, magical train ride you've provided for us. Your descriptions are so vivid I felt I was right there, even though it seems to be an entirely different century that they lived in. Your work is so beautiful. You have quite a unique gift.

oh, this is a wonderfully fantastical adventure you are on. Love the series so far and your new addition is a perfect match for your lady! It's always cool to let your thoughts and imagination take you on a journey...I love when that happens! Seems mine...at the moment is traveling down the yellow brick road...a road I've been down before, but this time it's taken a different twist! Again...love your work and style! Inspiring for sure!POP ART MINIS

Geckostone said...

Kiki, I adore your blind man! He has such kind eyes and I can just hear his gentle voice on the train telling Lady Sunflower of his "visions" from deep within. He seems a spiritual guide to her and I too sense she is protective of him, they are kindred souls for sure!I look forward to meeting more of your passengers. I feel they are gathering to tell us something special from a time gone by yet perhaps returning! Beautiful work my friend! Thank you for the wonderful idea on my blog!I'll have to look into how to paint on silk!!!Deb

Poor blind man. He looks so sad. I bet he can smell those yummy peaches you've set in front of him, though! I love the clothes your characters wear.

I am thrilled you have painted the blind man traveling in the same car on our train. He is such a charming man and travels to many places. His loss of sight has heightened his remaining senses and he loves to meet people. That is why he is carrying fresh fruit, vegetables and a bottle of wine. The sunflower was given to him by Lady Sunflower when he shared his wine with her. He offered a glass to me, however I declined. Allergic alas. We are humming along and sharing stories of our travels. In our world there is no rush.
Thank you Victoria for painting this adventure...

These two works go so very well together. You have such a magical approach and result in your works! HAPPY PPF!

I think they are on the same train and they will meet! And there will be other passengers you choose to paint too!

Wonderful!!

Fallingladies said...

can't wait for them to be finished and for the rest of the story to unfold, such a romantic dreamy start, beautiful and intriguing. I paint in series without planning to, but my falling ladies started as one piece, then a series and now I just can't stop. I also had a series planned of dancers, of ladies with secrets in their skirts, and one with mirrors and one with walls, then my series start to overlap and then I get myself overwhelmed with too many ideas...

Faerie Moon Creations said...

He is just amazing, Victoria! He might be blind but his eyes see much. He is filled with wisdom, humility and love. I think he is the perfect counterpart for the lovely lady in the other painting. Perhaps they are meant to be together...two soul mates? Beautiful work, as always. :)

Paula - Buenos Aires said...

They look awesome together.
I work in a smaller size and simpler things but as I work on many pieces at the same time they share a colour pallette. Most of the time they look as a series, sometimes they don´t.
Is that the type of brush you use? They are my favourites.

Emm said...

Gosh, they make such a lovely couple. I love the inclusion of the eggplant and I love that he is on a train. The yellow canary is interesting too.

This post made me sad too. I once had a blind friend and I know what you mean about those eyes that draw you in, yet he cannot see! Sadly, he was knocked down just after he got his university degree and passed away. My whole class had given him a standing ovation that night as he crossed the stage, overcoming such difficulties to achieve so much.

Auroran Lauriel said...

Oh, a whole train full of passengers?! This is a very exciting tale unfolding. I'm hooked. I want to know more about him. He looks like he has a very interesting story to tell. Interesting connecting them with the peach--an implied relationship whether just the passing of a peach or more? Hmmmmmmm . . . I'll sit and wait here in the audience for more unfolding of their great mystery.

Heather said...

Oh Kiki!!! I just love coming to your blog each week. Waiting for the story to unfold! What a great Idea and whole series of painting call "Passengers on a Train". That can be the name of the show! Love these!
