The Victorian Lady
She rests on the piano..
till it is time to finish her...
I Love when Victorian Ladies
show up on the canvas..
and their oversized embellished hats..
*
When she first appeared..I knew I really liked her..
She seems like a rebel within
and full of life
*
Her clothes expressive like her Inner Spirit
*
If You know me by now..
you know I love taking photo shoots
*
I also love taking my paintings
and putting them in different settings..
and creating scenes..
and seeing what new energy will come to life
I love experimenting
This often allows me to SEE my painting
in a new way
and to see different aspects of it
come to life..
It also presses a divine re-set button
for me..and then
I often feel inspired to finish it..

I love to stir and invoke moods
and a sense of atmosphere
Both photography and art combined
can create a whole different energy to a piece
and even lead you in new directions!

She does look quite the lady! Love the swirls in the background.
Aubergine is a fab colour - so rich and vibrant. I liked the poses yours was making there for you - quite the model!!
She's lovely. There are so many colors in her cape and hat, that it is a feast for the eyes. I'm a color junkie by the way...
Aubergine and magenta. That is the first thing that came to my mind. The magenta, picks up the red-violet undertones of the aubergine. I can picture a lush magenta hibiscus flower beside the aubergine....
By the way your wizard is so enchanting.
Hope you are well. Hugs to you...kindred friend. XXX
She is definitely the lady Kiki. Full of color and texture. I just love the bright colors you work with and I love eggplant.:)) I can cook that. Tee hee.:) Great and beautiful work as always. Yay! Happy PPF!
Totally wonderful painting Kiki, you are so very talented. Annette x
Your lady is wonderful! The color of eggplant is very dark, almost black so putting alizoron down, then veridian with a touch of dark purple would make it very dark maybe. I'm just learning, so I don't know for sure, just guessing. Love what you do with your scenes.
She's lovely! Her hat is wonderful!
I LOVE your Victorian Lady! Like you, I've always loved their oversized hats. Such fashion statements! You've given her a beautiful array of colors; so rich and earthy. I also love the swirls enveloping her. I'm wondering what else you could add? I'm curious to see!
Aubergine (one of my favorite colors): I had one wall in my living room painted a lighter version of that color in the house we just moved from. I loved it! An accent color I used was a shade of green similar to the stalk on the eggplant. Just a thought...
She's fabulous! I love the details of her hat and cape. There is something quite ghostly about her, maybe the way she seems to float above her cape! A great portrait.
Love your Victorian Lady piece! Fabulous hat too! Happy PPF!
I love this Victorian Lady! Especially when she's by the piano, that just invokes images of Victorian parties. The colors are wonderful!
your work brings back the splendour of a time past. Beautiful.
Kiki, your Victorian lady is just beautiful - you blow me away with your talent...don't think I can help with the aubergine thing, although someone's suggestion of green sounded good...as far as I'm concerned aubergine (or eggplant as we call it) goes very nicely with goat's cheese - hee hee....I wanna come to your house and see all of your beautiful paintings in the flesh...have a wonderful weekend my darling friend xxx
Your Victorian lady is so proper, elegant, and sophisticated. But underneath I sense that she has a wild streak to go with that beauty! The colors are fabulous ~ I can't even say which colors make it work so well ~ they all work together to make it awesome!
Your Victorian Lady is beautiful! I would like to know what she is thinking? Or maybe she is planning something? Hmmmmmmmmmmm.... I see shades of green, for your color ;o) Take Care ;o)
She is just fantastic!
Such a gorgeous Victorian Lady. One of my favorite eras. And aubergine - such a lovely color. I also LOVE eggplant - to eat. One of my favorites. Theresa
your victorian lady is wonderful, i love her colors and ruffles.
i see that you have already mated your eggplant with lovely colors~
What a lovely detailed painting! Just beautiful. Loving anything from the Victorian era! ;)
Magnifique! très beau 'post'
Merci de tes visites sur mes pages !
Très bon wee-end
Sorry I'm so late getting to the party- yesterday was crazy!
Your lady is wonderful- I love how properly she is dressed with all those hints of inner spirit and fire- beautiful- also, to me; she looks a LOT like you.....
As for aubergine (is there any other color more fun to say?) I love those copper tones you have the eggplant paired with in the photos- such a beautiful combination! When I mix aubergine and it's related colors, I use Vermilion and cobalt (maybe even a touch of ultramarine)- and use a lighter shade of cobalt mixed with the aubergine for the "bounced" reflection. Hope that makes sense, it's hard for me to put into words....
Happy PPF ( a day late ;))
Stephanie
Very beautiful Victorian lady. I love her expression. She looks like she's challenging all that look upon her. Wonderful details in her clothing and hat!
Another lovely painting! I just love the way you create a world around your paintings, giving them new life with each scene...the Lady looks different in different environments, drawing attention to different aspects of the painting depending on where she is.
I am intrigued with your art work that you do for others to help them on their journey...kind of like art and spiritual guidance..I would love to hear more about how you commission this work. I am sure that all those you "help" with this style of therapy are truly gifted with your amazing talents, both on the physical and spiritual side :) I loved how you used crystals on the paintings to create healing mandalas...you've got some great ideas and style!
I once heard of a town in upstate NY where they have an open studio tour of psychics/artists who give readings via their paintings. The people receive a painting as guidance or depicting their spirit guides or whatever comes up for the artist/psychic. I would love to do this!
You've already come up with the perfect colors for aubergine in your photos...copper looks perfect!
Wishing you all the best, and I hope your studio time is producing some magical music...looking forward to hearing and seeing all your creations!
~carrie~
Wow - I am in love with that hat (and the confidence it would take to wear it!) Your vibrant colors are beautiful... For your latest I say trust your instincts - they've definitely led you in the right direction so far :)

Kristin
wow, this lady just exudes opulence and extravagance! VERY beautiful!I LOVE your painting style :)x
Good morning Kiki....you lady is so very lovely...and I LOVE THAT HAT!!!
I still can't believe you are a self taught artist. LOL
About aubergine....first of all it sound so much more intriguing than "eggplant"....don't you think?? anyway I love pairing it with turquoise or hot pink...it also looks great with a great variety of yellow/oranges. In fact...I think it really goes with many colors on the color wheel. You could almost consider it a neutral in many aspects. (O:

She is beautiful Victoria as is the wizard at the top!
Aubergine - hmmm
with red or gold or pale pink - those are the colours that strike me (maybe not altogether).
I loved your comment on PPF - so fascinating!
She is so beautiful, the colors are awesome. I love the wizard at the begging of your blog also, he is great.
Her background and cape show so much movement, love he in the different settings, I see good things in the future with Aubergine coupled with copper or gold metallics!
Hi Victoria, nice to meet you!

Aubergine with vermillion, prussian blue, aquamarine antique gold and creamy lace ...really just colours I see with it.
Your painterly talents are stunning and so entrancing, every time I feel transported to another era.
Hope I gave you a bit of help Victoria.

Absolutely fantastic! Love the colors and love the texture you create with it.
That's one of my favorite things about your blog...your photgraphy. Honestly, do you have to be so darn good at everything?
Love to you Victoria!

I love the mood of all your blogs. Wonderful settings for your paintings. Gorgeous lady, very lively hat so full of colour and detail.
She's not finished? She sure LOOKS finished. I do love ladies in hats and yours are some of the finest.
Oh she is gorgeous with a bit of a Bohemian flair. I love a bit of coral with Aubergine and maybe a dash of lime. Ooh sounds like a nice cocktail! A beautiful new additon to your astounding gallery Victoria!
Such a fabulous hat on a fabulous lady.
I am always amazed when I see how much women put into dressing so long ago. I feel lazy in my yoga pants and sloppy t-shirt.
Thanks for leaving a nice comment on my blog.
Hugs,
rosey
